Is it likely that the U.S. will have a female president in the near future? In your lifetime? Why?

Not in the near future.  I think that there is a current of fear that a woman might be too soft to lead now that the men have gotten us into two unwinnable wars.  I would not vote for the women who are likely to run in the next couple election cycles because they have not demonstrated a real concern for the needs of the people in this country -- they have been spending too much time working on their "platforms" for eventual campaigns.  In my lifetime?  Maybe.  I think more important than whether it is a man or a woman in the white house is how much experience the person has with diplomacy -- the president's position should be that of chief diplomat as much as "commander" in chief.  It is foolish to expect solid, reasonable treaties whether economic or political (one of the president's main jobs) to be formulated by a person who is eager for war...
